What is CRI Credit Union?

CRI Credit Union is a member-owned financial cooperative that has been serving Ghanaians since 1998. We provide savings, loans, and other financial services to our members at competitive rates. Unlike traditional banks, our members are also our owners, and profits are returned to members through dividends and better rates.

How is a credit union different from a bank?

Credit unions are not-for-profit, member-owned financial cooperatives. This means:

  • Members vote on important decisions
  • Profits are returned to members, not shareholders
  • Generally better interest rates on savings and loans
  • More personalized service
  • Community-focused approach
Is my money safe with CRI Credit Union?

Yes, absolutely! CRI Credit Union is regulated by the Bank of Ghana and operates under strict financial guidelines. We maintain robust reserve requirements, undergo regular audits, and follow international best practices for financial security. Your deposits are protected under our institutional guarantee.

Our branches are open:

  • Monday - Friday: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Saturday: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
  • Sunday & Public Holidays: Closed

Our mobile banking and ATM services are available 24/7.

Do you have mobile banking?

Yes! Our mobile banking service allows you to:

  • Check account balances
  • Transfer funds between accounts
  • View transaction history
  • Pay bills

Can I withdraw from my fixed deposit early?

Yes, early withdrawal is possible but comes with penalties:

  • Loans against fixed deposit: Immediate (up to 90% of deposit)
How much can I borrow?

Your loan amount depends on several factors:

  • Up to 3x your savings balance
  • Your income and ability to repay
  • Collateral provided
  • Credit history with the union

First-time borrowers typically qualify for smaller amounts, which increase with good repayment history.

What happens if I can't repay my loan?

If you're facing difficulty, please contact us immediately. We offer:

  • Loan restructuring options
  • Extended repayment periods
  • Interest-only payments temporarily

Defaulting on your loan will affect your guarantors and your eligibility for future loans.

Do I need guarantors for a loan?

Requirements depend on the loan type and amount:

  • Loans with fixed deposit collateral: No guarantors needed
  • Small loans (under GH₵5,000): 1 guarantor
  • Larger loans: 2 guarantors (must be CRI members)

Guarantors are responsible for the loan if you default.
